Lucky Dog Animal Rescue wins grant

A D.C. animal rescue group has won $1,000 through a national competition, and now has the chance to win more.

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, a nonprofit that places pets in foster homes, won the $1,000 from an online animal activist group called the Animal Rescue Site. Lucky Dog won by gathering more online votes than any other adoption center in the District during a three-month competition. The Animal Rescue Site gave out 77 grants totaling $100,000. Its next competition begins Sept. 20. Lucky Dog will again be competing for a portion of $100,000, including an additional grant of $10,000 for the organization that receives the most votes over the course of an entire year.
