1 killed, 2 wounded in Santa Ana car shooting

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Orange County authorities are searching for a suspect who opened fire on a car at a Santa Ana intersection, killing a 21-year-old man and wounding two women inside.

Police Corporal Anthony Bertagna (burr-TAHN-yuh) said early Wednesday that the women are hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Bertagna tells City News Service the suspect ran to a white SUV, which sped away from the scene after the shooting late Tuesday.

Officials say the man killed — Aaron Jonathan Chavez of Anaheim — was a passenger in the car.

Investigators have not identified a motive.
