President Trump weighed in on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s comments on the 2020 election.
“I’m not a fan of hers. And I would say this — and she probably has heard that — but I wish a lot of luck to Harry because he’s going to need it,” the president told reporters at a Wednesday briefing.
The duke and duchess took a veiled swipe at Trump in a video to mark the release of Time 100, an annual list of the most influential people in the world, in which Markle said the 2020 election was “the most important election of our lifetime.”
Prince Harry told viewers that although he is not an American citizen and cannot vote in the United States, “it’s vital that we reject hate speech, misinformation, and online negativity.”

The couple’s comments enraged commentators across the pond, with British broadcaster Piers Morgan renewing his call for the couple’s titles to be stripped in his Wednesday column.
He wrote, “Telling Americans to vote against President Trump is completely unacceptable behaviour for a member of the Royal Family” and that Prince Harry and his wife had “crossed a massive line which should now have serious consequences for the couple who specialize in wanting their royal cake and the freedom to eat it.”
Morgan also expressed his displeasure on Twitter, tweeting, “Prince Harry poking his woke nose into the US election & effectively telling Americans to vote against President Trump is completely unacceptable behaviour for a member of the Royal Family.”

Journalist Andrew Pierce tweeted that Prince Harry had “effectively endorsed” Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
“He doesn’t have a vote and as he still think he’s Royal, he is HRH, he’s supposed to be politically neutral. As usual, he wants it both ways.”

Corey Lewandowski, a senior adviser to the president’s campaign, told the Daily Mail that the couple had “made Britain great again by leaving” and hopes “they do the same for” the U.S.
At the time of publication, the Trump campaign had not responded to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
Trump said U.S. taxpayers would not foot the bill for the estimated $1 million-a-year security costs for the duke and duchess of Sussex after their move to California in March.
The president took to Twitter at the time, writing that although he admired Queen Elizabeth II, “the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!”
I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!

Ahead of his June 2019 state visit to the United Kingdom, Trump ripped the duchess as “nasty,” after a reporter mentioned that she “wasn’t so nice to” him. Markle was on maternity leave during his visit and did not participate in the festivities.
The president later clarified his comments and called Prince Harry “terrific” and said that Markle was doing “very well” in her role as duchess of Sussex.
“I didn’t know that she said anything bad about me, it sounds like she did, and that’s OK, I mean, join the crowd. … They said some of the things that she said, and it’s actually on tape, and I said, ‘Well, I didn’t know she was nasty.'” Trump said, adding, “Essentially, I didn’t know she was nasty about me.”

The former actress cold-called voters and revealed to feminist activist Gloria Steinem that Biden’s selection of Kamala Harris as his running mate made her “so excited.”
In August, she participated in an event with When All Women Vote, an organization co-founded by former first lady Michelle Obama, telling viewers that if they “aren’t part of the solution,” they’re “part of the problem.”
Markle has been a critic of Trump, calling him “divisive” and “misogynistic” in a 2016 interview.
“Of course, Trump is divisive — think about female voters alone. I think it was in 2012, the Republican Party lost the female vote by 12 points. That’s a huge number, and as misogynistic as Trump is, and so vocal about it, that’s a huge chunk of it,” she said. “You’re not just voting for a woman if it’s Hillary [Clinton]. Yes, you’re voting because she’s a woman, but certainly, because Trump has made it easy to see that you don’t really want that kind of world that he’s painting.”
