Defense Secretary Ash Carter is heading to Brussels this week to talk with defense leaders from around the world about issues including Russian aggression, contributions from NATO allies to the campaign against the Islamic State, and the future strategy for Afghanistan.
The defense ministerial, which is Carter’s fourth since taking over as defense secretary, will help prepare for the biannual NATO summit in Warsaw in early July.
