An 11-year-old boy in Florida died after he fell from a Panama City Beach resort balcony while his family was waiting out Hurricane Ian, authorities said.
The child’s body was found at the Sterling Reef building around Front Beach Road, according to a Thursday report.

He fell from one of the building’s 19th-floor balconies, Panama City Beach’s police, fire rescue, and EMS said.
Emergency officials responded to the scene, but the child was soon declared dead.
The young boy had been with his family at the resort following their evacuation from the Jacksonville, Florida, area, authorities said.
Foul play is not suspected by authorities, according to the report.

The incident is under investigation, and the name of the family has not been released by officials.
