Pentagon identifies two US troops killed in Afghanistan

The Pentagon identified on Friday the two troops who were killed this week in Afghanistan while assisting Afghan Security Forces in Kunduz province.

The two men were Capt. Andrew D. Byers of Rolesville, North Carolina, and Sgt. 1st Class Ryan Gloyer of Greenville, Pa. Both were assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) based in Fort Carson, Colo.

The troops came under fire on Thursday while on a train, advise and assist mission to help fight the Taliban in northern Afghanistan.

Four other U.S. troops were wounded in the attack.
