SX4 Sport offers a lot for young drivers

The 2010 Suzuki SX4 Sport is a solid, smooth-driving car that has plenty of room for four plus plentiful cargo space.

It’s tough to get on board with other critics who remark it drives like a sports car; in my case, I found the SX4 Sport drove like a solid family sedan. Nothing wrong with that especially because it appeals to a wide range of economical car buyers. With prices that start at just over $13,000 combined with a miles per gallon rating of 23 city and 31 highway, and you have a lot to love.

That’s great news for the younger driver who will surely be attracted to the snappy drive and smooth curves of the SX4 Sport. This car isn’t the same old boxy sedan that many consider “starter” cars. And, in fairness, this car isn’t just for the new buyers but would work well for just about every driver.

Make no mistake, though, the SX4 isn’t a hot sports car despite its name. But it has enough exterior curves to stand out from the crowd. Plus there are a host of features on this new model including a standard Navi system with pre-loaded maps that go from 2-D to 3-D maps and voice directions. There is also MSN Direct capabilities that allow the driver to get real-time local weather, traffic, gas price news and more.

Add to that keyless entry with panic alarm; power windows, door locks and mirrors; and air conditioning with automatic climate control, and you have a tech lover’s dream.

The car is powered by a 2-liter, 16-valve, four-cylinder engine. For you, that means when you go from back roads to highways, you don’t have the annoying acceleration lag time in many cars of this type and size.

There are also some extra safety features that you don’t often find on cars of this type such as Electronic Stability Program with Traction Control, headrests and seat belts with multiple positions, and four-wheel anti-lock braking system with Electronic Brake-force Distribution.

There’s plenty of talk in the auto industry about how hard this down economy has struck Suzuki. If you want to get a low-cost sedan with plenty of extras, now may well be the time to consider a SX4 Sport.
