Virginia delegate files bill for “Don’t Tread on Me” license plate

A Virginia delegate has filed a bill that would create a “Don’t Tread on Me” license plate, complete with yellow flag and coiled rattlesnake — a Colonial-era slogan adopted by the Tea Party movement, The Norfolk Virginian-Pilot reports.

Del. John O’Bannon, R-Henrico, said he filed legislation at the request of his constituents.

A Tea Party official said about 600 people have expressed interest in the plate so far. Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is a fan of the idea and would put one on his car, according to his spokesman.
