Congressional Gold Medals bestowed upon fallen heroes

Congressional leaders came together on Wednesday, the day before the 13th anniversary of Sept. 11, to hand out three Congressional Gold Medals to those who died in the terrorist attacks.

The medals were provided to the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania, the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York, and the Pentagon Memorial in Virginia.

“All that we Americans are and all that we ever will be — we owe it to the fallen heroes of 9/11,” said Speaker of the House John Boehner.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid addressed the crowd on Capitol Hill, “Even in the midst of heart-wrenching memories, we’re reminded of the heroism of that day.”
