WATCH: Biden makes virtual cameo in Aubrey Plaza’s Saturday Night Live monologue

President Joe Biden made a virtual cameo during Saturday Night Live host Aubrey Plaza’s opening monologue.

The moment happened as Plaza discussed being from Delaware, the president’s home state. The White Lotus star said that she “was actually voted the most famous person from Delaware, I beat Joe Biden. That’s a fact and he was pissed, he was livid,” before showing a video she claimed he sent her.

Biden then appeared via video, saying with a smile, “Aubrey, you’re the most famous person out of Deleware and there’s no question about that. We’re just grateful you made it out of White Lotus alive.”

SNL alumni Amy Poehler appeared as herself during the monologue before joining Plaza for a Weekend Update segment reprising their Parks and Recreation roles as Leslie Knope and April Ludgate. During the Update segment, Poehler’s Knope asked lead anchor Colin Jost if Biden was able to see her via the video conferencing app he had used to appear during the show’s opening monologue.

“I think he pre-recorded that,” Jost told her, to which she replied: “Oh, I thought this show was live.”

On the show, which aired from 2009 to 2015, Leslie Knope was famous for having a longstanding crush on then-Vice President Biden. He made two cameos on the hit show, once in season five and again in season seven.
