Megyn Kelly: Husband had hard time staying quiet in Trump feud

Fox News’ Megyn Kelly admitted Sunday that it was difficult for her husband to stay quiet during the course of her feud with presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

“I think the truth is it was much harder for my husband not to say something than it was for me not to say anything,” Kelly said during an interview with her Fox News colleague, Howard Kurtz.

Kelly drew the ire of Trump and his supporters last summer when she confronted the billionaire during a GOP debate about the controversial comments he’s made about women. Trump repeatedly threatened to boycott Fox News following the heated exchange, and he frequently hurled insults at Kelly over Twitter.

“At times it’s been difficult, I’m not going to lie,” Kelly said Sunday. “There were certainly times where I would have liked to have come out and said something, but I knew that that was not in my best interest and I knew that that was not my role.”

“He kept trying to put me on the playing field and I kept trying to pull myself off,” she added.

Trump and Kelly appeared to have resolved their differences during a meeting last month at the billionaire’s Manhattan skyscraper.

“I was nervous before I went over there that morning, I didn’t know what to expect and I certainly woke up and thought, this is an odd day and I don’t know what’s going to happen here, but as soon as I saw him and received a very gracious welcome from him, I knew we would be fine,” she told Kurtz.
