‘Not the time for politics’: White House chides Republican calls for Biden’s resignation as troops remain in harm’s way

White House press secretary Jen Psaki attacked Republicans who have called for President Joe Biden’s resignation following terror attacks in Kabul on Thursday.

Psaki confirmed to reporters on Friday that she had seen some of the calls “put out on Twitter” from lawmakers such as Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley, and others.

WAVE OF REPUBLICANS CALL FOR BIDEN’S IMPEACHMENT OR RESIGNATION FOLLOWING KABUL TERROR ATTACKS

“The backdrop here is the U.S. men and women of the military, deployed on the ground, are bravely continuing to implement a mission to save lives on the ground. American citizens, Afghan partners, many people that some of these same individuals are calling for us to evacuate yesterday,” she said. “They lost 13 of their own, and the president made absolutely clear that we are going to cut down, go after, and kill the terrorists who are responsible. Everyone should be supportive of that.”

A reporter pressed Psaki again on the critiques, suggesting that it’s “not the time for politics.”

“Correct,” Psaki said.

As of Friday, 12 Republican lawmakers had called on the president to resign or urged Democrats to launch impeachment proceedings over his handling of the situation in Kabul.

Those terror attacks have resulted in 13 confirmed deaths among U.S. service members, yet the total number of Americans, Afghans, and other nationals killed in the attack remains unknown.
