McDonnell declares state of emergency in wake of deadly storms

Virgina Gov. Bob McDonnell has declared a state of emergency in the wake of deadly severe weather that ripped across Virginia Wednesday and Thursday.

At least three tornadoes touched down in central Virginia early Wednesday evening, the Associated Press reported.

The state of emergency allows state resources to be made available to support local responses to the storm.

Severe storms and tornadoes that moved across the south have killed at least 194 people.
