James Comey’s 15 questions for Robert Mueller

Former FBI Director James Comey wrote 15 questions he would ask former special counsel Robert Mueller when he testifies to Congress next week.

“If I were a member of Congress with five minutes to question Robert Mueller, I would ask short questions drawn from the report’s executive summaries,” Comey wrote in a piece for Lawfare on Friday.

Mueller is set to answer questions from the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees on Wednesday about his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and whether President Trump obstructed justice.

Mueller was appointed special counsel in May 2017 after Trump fired Comey. He has been a vocal Trump critic ever since.

Mueller concluded in his 448-page report there was insufficient evidence to establish the Trump campaign conspired with Russia to win the election, and did not make a determination on whether the president obstructed justice.

Comey’s questions include:

“Did you find that there were a series of contacts between the Trump campaign and individuals with ties to the Russian government?”

“Did you find that the Trump foreign policy adviser said the Trump campaign had received indications from the Russian government that it could assist the campaign through the anonymous release of information damaging to candidate Clinton?”

“Did you find that senior members of the Trump campaign met with Russian representatives at Trump Tower after being told in an email that the meeting was part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump?”

“Did you find substantial evidence that the president had committed obstruction of justice crimes?”
