GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — An injured crew member from a bulk freighter in the Gulf of Mexico is recovering in a southeast Texas hospital after being taken off his ship by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter.

The 33-year-old crew member, whose name was not immediately released, is in stable condition at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
