Candace Owens gives giant check to officer fired after Rittenhouse support

Candace Owens handed an oversized check — literally — to an officer fired for his support of Kyle Rittenhouse.

The conservative commentator gave Lt. William Kelly a sweepstakes-sized check for $202,000. Kelly reportedly donated $25 to Rittenhouse’s defense fund while the teenager faced charges related to the shooting deaths of two rioters and injury of one more amid the Jacob Blake protests in August 2020.

Even though he has the check in hand, the amount is growing to over $240,000.

“I said I want to raise $100,000 for him,” Owens said on her show, Candace. “Instead, we raised north of $240,000.”

Owens and Kelly received a standing ovation from the live audience.

Kelly is a 19-year veteran of the Norfolk Police Department in Norfolk, Virginia. He wasn’t far from reaching the 20-year mark, at which point he’d have access to his retirement funds without penalty, according to a report.

However, he was fired in April when the city manager accepted Chief Larry Boone’s recommendation to terminate Kelly.

He is married with three children, and his wife is reportedly battling cancer.

Rittenhouse was found not guilty Friday on all charges.
