Sewage overflow affects C&O Canal in Georgetown

Published

WASHINGTON (AP) — The National Park Service says an additional sewage overflow from this week’s storms has caused untreated wastewater to spill into the C&O Canal in Georgetown.

The park service is advising anyone who uses the canal below Lock 6 to sanitize equipment that comes into contact with the water through midday Sunday. People are also advised not to fish in the canal below Lock 6 or go into the water during that time.
