The Sutter Group can?t say no.
“When a client comes to me and asks, ?Can you do this?,? I just say yes,” said Karen Sutter, president of the Sutter Group.
A marketing, advertising and public relations company based in Lanham, the firm was founded in 1987 by Karen Sutter. She employed one person ? herself. Now, the company is comprised of eight full-time employees and two part-time, with anywhere from 50 to 75 active clients at once.
The firm recently acquired two new clients ? Mechanical Engineering and Construction Corp. and The TAC Companies. The group is also gearing up for a launch of a new Land rover vehicle in the next couple of months.
“We?re a design firm, so it?s a given that we should be good at design,” Sutter said. “I think what sets us apart is the level of customer service we provide. Usually once we have a customer, we have them.”
Sutter said she looks forward to expanding her company in the future. “My firm belief is that print will end up supporting the web instead of the other way around,” she said. “People?s first contact will be a company?s Web site. That?s where [the company] needs to go next, to be equally well known for our interactive side of things.”
The Sutter Group has been the agency of record for Landrover University since 2001. Randy Jennings, National Training and Development Manager for Landrover University, says that Sutter helped his company find their identity inside of Landrover North America. “Karen was able to lead us where we needed to go,” he said. “She identified that we were a brand inside of a brand. She helped us refine what our brand is and what we want it to look like.”
