‘Where’s Jackie? I thought she was going to be here’: Quotes of the Week

The final week in September saw serious questions raised about the possible cognitive decline of President Joe Biden, who during a speech asked “Where’s Jackie?” in reference to Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN), who was recently killed in a car crash. The unfortunate gaffe, coupled with the White House’s attempts to defend the president, gained a lot of unwanted attention. Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris also committed a bad verbal blunder while on the Korean Peninsula. On top of that, Hurricane Ian slammed into Florida, wreaking untold damage. These are the quotes of the week.

“Despite our apparently differences, Sen. McConnell and I have forged a friendship, one that is rooted in our commonalities, including our pragmatic approach to legislating, our respect for the Senate as an institution.”

“Look, I think that Democrats, if the election is about who is the most extreme, as we saw, you know, Kevin McCarthy touch on there with Marjorie Taylor Greene, I’ll say her name, sitting over his left side, then they’re going to win. If it is a referendum on the president, they will lose, and they know that.”

“We talk about storm surge. We talk about flooding. We’re talking about people drowning to death, dying because of water is way too high. They had to redo the numbers last night. Storm surge map, they didn’t have a color for 12 to 15 feet. … I worry and now we pray for people who didn’t heed the evacuation warnings.”

“It’s no longer possible to safely evacuate. It’s time to hunker down and prepare for this storm.”

  • Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says Wednesday it’s time for people to hunker down.

“People care about the details of what kind of plans we would have if we were in the majority because they don’t like the far-left socialist agenda of Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi.”

  • Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) says people are excited about House Republicans’ “Commitment to America” agenda.

“The United States shares a very important relationship, which is an alliance, with the Republic of North Korea, and it is an alliance that is strong and enduring.”

“I want to thank all of you here, including bipartisan elected officials like Rep. McGovern, Sen. Braun, Sen. Booker, Rep. Jackie — are you here?” the president said near the top of his remarks. “Where’s Jackie? I thought she was going to be here — to help make this a reality.”

  • President Joe Biden appears to forget that Indiana Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN) recently died in a car crash.

“I think the American people out there who, you know, watch the briefing from time to time, maybe at this moment, will understand when someone is at top of mind.”

  • White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s response to Biden seemingly forgetting Walorski was no longer alive.

“I mean, I have John Lennon top of mind every day, but I’m not looking around for him.”

  • A member of the White House press corps responds to Jean-Pierre’s explanation.

“Thank you. I haven’t given up hope.”

“We first want to love every kid, and we want to make sure we’re protecting their dignity and their privacy and their safety. And the difference in what our policies are really focused on is indeed bringing parents fully in.”

“I have to say, there is a long way between here and there.”

“Do not, do not, do not use this storm as an excuse to raise gasoline prices or gouge the American public.”

“That is what is American about this country, so you’re trying to now bully somebody out of running, and I have some news for you. Keep going, guys, because he does not get intimated.”

  • Trump lawyer Alina Habba says her boss won’t be kowtowed into not running for president again should he choose to do so.

“It doesn’t take a neurologist to realize he’s in serious cognitive decline. The American people know what’s going on here, and they don’t think the commander in chief is capable of doing his job. It’s past time for White House staff and the liberal media to stop shielding him from questions about his mental acuity and demand he answer my call for a cognitive test.”

  • Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), who served as a physician to the president for both Trump and former President Barack Obama, says Biden should take a cognitive test.
