Sen. Ted Cruz and President Obama have set aside partisanship to fly to Dallas together Tuesday for a memorial service for five slain police officers.
The two have a storied past as rivals, but according to reports, the two are set to put those differences aside to fly together on Air Force One.
First lady Michelle Obama and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., are also expected to be onboard Air Force One to attend the service in Dallas.
Majority Whip John Cornyn, Texas’ other senator, is scheduled to arrive before the president in Dallas on Tuesday for the service.
Former President George W. Bush, who hails from Texas, will also be at the memorial service.
Last week, an Army veteran killed five police officers and injured seven others during a protest against police brutality against black people.
This isn’t the first time Obama and a Republican rival have flown together on Air Force One. In the wake of the Orlando, Fla., massacre, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio flew with the president to Florida in a show of solidarity.
