Former Trump adviser Sebastian Gorka compared special counsel Robert Mueller to convicted gangster Whitey Bulger after Mueller formally closed his investigation into possible collusion between President Trump and Russia on Friday.
Gorka drew the comparison between the two on Instagram right after the news about the investigation broke.
“NO ADDITIONAL INDICTMENTS. Rod Rosenstein and Barack Obama cronies just spent $30 Million of YOUR money to put Manafort in prison for mortgage fraud. Congrats Bob ‘Whitey Bulger’ Mueller and the rest of the demented and un-America #CollusionTruthers,” Gorka wrote on his Instagram post, referring to Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, whose bank and tax fraud was uncovered by the probe.
Bulger, the former second-highest individual on the FBI’s Most Wanted list behind Osama bin Laden and was sentenced to two life sentences in 2013, was found guilty of 11 murders and a slew of other charges, including racketeering and money laundering.
Since leaving the White House, Gorka has remained one of Trump’s fiercest allies, taking active contributor and guest roles in conservative media. He frequently attacked the Mueller investigation, echoing Trump’s sentiment that it was all a “witch hunt” and a ruse to undermine the presidency.
In the wake of the report’s delivery, he also shared an image of Mueller serving up a “nothing burger.”
Throughout the investigation, Mueller’s team issued 38 indictments, ranging from top Trump aides and advisers Manafort, Mike Flynn, Michael Cohen, and Roger Stone, to 16 Russian nationals and companies for their interference in the U.S. elections in 2016. Many of the indictments have already gone through the legal process, resulting in guilty pleas, hefty fines, and prison sentences.
