Former White House communications director and longtime Trump associate Hope Hicks said Wednesday that she is entirely prepared to cooperate with congressional Democrats on their investigation into Trump’s alleged obstruction of justice, according to a new report.
Daniel Schwarz, a spokesman for Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., confirmed to CNN that Hope Hicks, who served under Trump in many capacities both in the private and public sectors, is planning to release whatever documents are sought by the House Judiciary Committee. Since taking over the House, congressional Democrats have indicated that they will ramp up their investigations into Trump.
Hicks received a letter this month from Nadler requesting documents covering a wide range of issues, pertaining to “any personal or work diary, journal or other book containing notes, a record or a description of daily events.”
The topics are said to include the highly criticized firing of former FBI Director James Comey, false statements made to the FBI by former national security adviser Michael Flynn made, and Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with agents of the Russian government in Trump Tower during the 2016 election.
The Judiciary Committee requested documents highlighting any “obstruction of justice, corruption, and abuse of power” by Trump from 81 other individuals.
Hicks has not been shy from cooperating with federal officials over the Trump allegations. Last year, she testified before the House Intelligence Committee under then-Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., in a closed-door session.
Hicks’ legal team has not issued any statement regarding her interactions with the House Judiciary Committee.
