The People’s Convoy, inspired by the Freedom Convoy in Canada, may try to sent trucks to the vicinity of the White House.
Hundreds of cars and several trucks, comprised of people protesting pandemic restrictions and other rules they feel restrict their freedoms, have joined the venture, and the plan is to fan out Saturday, though the specifics remain unclear. Some have called for blocking the Capital Beltway, referring to the 64-mile highway that surrounds Washington, D.C., while one has indicated a single high-profile location.
“I can tell you now that there will be select trucks going to the White House,” Dan Fitzgerald, one of the organizers of the protest, said Friday, according to NBC News.
Some of the convoy was spotted traveling through Hagerstown, Maryland, on Friday, with flags adorning cars and trucks as they drove by supporters.

Police agencies from Maryland, Virginia, and New York City have sent units to Washington to monitor the Beltway and assist local authorities as needed, the Washington Post reported.
Some arrived earlier this week to beef up security ahead of President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address Tuesday, though an earlier planned trucker convoy rally in the capital appeared to fizzle out.
Dozens of truckers, without their vehicles, are expected to bus into Washington on Monday to meet with lawmakers.
