Philadelphia man fatally shot while working on gun violence campaign

A Philadelphia man was fatally shot and killed while filming a video campaign about gun violence in the Pennsylvania city, authorities said.

Police responded to a report of a shooting at around 8:00 p.m.

The shooting occurred Monday in North Philadelphia near the 1900 block of Page Street, where authorities found a 55-year-old man lying on the sidewalk near an open passenger door of his work vehicle.

Medical emergency crews rushed the man to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after. The man sustained shots to the head, torso, chest, and legs.

PHILADELPHIA MAN SHOT AND KILLED ON PRISON PROPERTY FOLLOWING RELEASE

Evidence found at the scene showed four spent shell casings near where the victim was laying when authorities arrived.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said the man was working for a production company and was inside a private residence interviewing people whose family members were victims of gun violence.

Small said the production was for a movie about stopping gun violence. Police say the man was shot after he went outside to grab additional equipment.

Investigators are aware of several private surveillance cameras in the neighborhood and are working to retrieve footage from the surrounding area.

Police have made no arrests so far, and a motive for the shooting is unknown.

Earlier this month, another Philadelphia man was shot and killed just after being released on bail from prison. Authorities could not determine details on suspects or a motive.
