LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (AP) — Orange County prosecutors have charged a doctor with multiple felonies after finding dozens of rifles, inert hand grenades and materials that can be used to make homemade explosives during a search of his home.

Farrah Emami, a spokeswoman for the Orange County district attorney, says 56-year-old Juan Jesus Martinez, of Laguna Niguel, was charged Monday with weapons-related charges, including possession of an assault weapon.

Martinez was arrested last week and released on bail after authorities responding to a domestic disturbance call noticed the large number of weapons stored at the home.

Sandra Hernandez-Millett, a spokeswoman for Kaiser Permanente Southern California, confirms that Martinez is a dermatologist there. She referred questions to authorities.

It was unclear if Martinez had retained an attorney before his first court appearance on Tuesday.
