An Occupy DC protester charged with assault on a police officer after he allegedly threw a soda bottle at a U.S. Park Police officer has been released from police custody, according to court documents.
Jeremiah Desausa was released into a halfway house after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing on Thursday.
He will appear before a judge for a felony status hearing on Feb. 28.
Police said Desausa threw a bottle at an officer during a scuffle on K Street last Saturday, as police attempted to move protesters out of McPherson Square while enforcing a camping ban there.
Desausa told police in an interview after his arrest that he had been trying to throw the bottle away, according to court documents.
