No federal aid for Prince George’s, Montgomery Irene-inflicted damage

Prince George’s and Montgomery counties won’t receive any federal aid to offset the costs of damage caused by Hurricane Irene.

President Obama announced disaster relief for the state Friday afternoon. Funds will be available through the Federal Eemrgency Management Agency to supplement local and state funding for recovery efforts.

Nonprofits and government agency in 13 counties are eligble for the funds, but neither Prince George’s or Montgomery made the cut.

Here are the counties where assistance has been granted:

  • Calvert
  • Caroline
  • Cecil
  • Charles
  • Dorchester
  • Harford
  • Kent
  • Queen Anne’s
  • Somerset
  • St. Mary’s
  • Talbot
  • Wicomico
  • Worcester
