Baltimore and Maryland average gas prices hit their lowest mark on Monday since June 29, according to Towson-based AAA Mid-Atlantic.
The average price for self-serve regular gasoline reached $2.98 per gallon on Monday in Baltimore and Maryland, the same price on June 29.
And during the past weekend, the average price fell to $2.99 per gallon in both regions ? the first drop below $3 per gallon since June 30, according to the Daily Fuel Gauge Report from AAA Mid-Atlantic.
Ragina C. Averella, manager of public and government affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic, said the low prices come when there is one week left in the summer travel season.
“We?ve been fortunate. None of the [oil] refineries in the Gulf Coast have been impacted by hurricanes or severe weather,” she said.
But Averella said: “We are still 31 cents higher than we were at this time last year.”
