Sirius XM radio host Michael Smerconish was slammed this week for hosting disgraced political journalist and pundit Mark Halperin on his radio show.
Halperin, who was accused of sexual harassment by nearly a dozen women about two years ago, resurfaced this month after announcing a new book featuring statements from 75 Democratic political strategists. After facing heat for helping him regain his footing, many of those interviewed, including former Obama chief strategist David Axelrod, apologized.
This was not Halperin’s first appearance on Smerconish’s show this year. Back in April, he reiterated his apology on the air during an interview on the show.
“I know that I’ve grown in my understanding of all this, I know I need to continue to grow, I wasn’t a perfect person when I made these mistakes, I’m not a perfect person now, I’m happy to be judged by perfect people,” he said.
Following Smerconish’s announcement that Halperin would join him on the show, he was slammed by numerous members of the media for continuing to give him a platform despite his past.
Did he put his genitalia on anyone’s shoulder while he was there? https://t.co/8Fwtf3F7ac

1. Michael Smerconish loves to book men who have been accused by multiple women of sexual violence or misconduct. It seems to be a speciality of his. Whether it’s Bill Cosby (in 2017), an interview with Bill O’Reilly (CNN cancelled it), or Halperin…

I will never understand why so many white male reporters are desperate to bring back Mark Halperin — a sexual predator who was objectively a terrible journalist even before the sexual predator stuff came out. https://t.co/SOiEG4Q2NF

We must assume that any host that has scumbag Mark Halperin on their show is part of the coverup of his original crimes. Fuck anyone who is working on helping him get back in media. https://t.co/cO2ef7LXTZ
