‘Lied to the U.S. Senate’: Kamala Harris leads 2020 Democratic demand for Kavanaugh impeachment

California Sen. Kamala Harris joined other 2020 Democratic candidates in saying Justice Brett Kavanaugh must be impeached after a new sexual misconduct allegation was leveled against him on Saturday.

“Brett Kavanaugh lied to the U.S. Senate and most importantly to the American people. He was put on the Court through a sham process and his place on the Court is an insult to the pursuit of truth and justice,” the Democratic presidential candidate tweeted Sunday.

Other Democratic presidential candidates have either expressed concern about the allegation or have outright called for Kavanaugh’s impeachment because of it.

One of Kavanaugh’s male classmates at Yale University, Max Stier, witnessed him make inappropriate sexual contact with a female student, according to the New York Times. Stier informed the FBI during his confirmation process last year, but the FBI did not investigate it.

President Trump defended Kavanaugh on Sunday, tweeting that “Radical Left Democrats” and the “LameStream Media” are trying to slander Justice Brett Kavanaugh into “turning Liberal.” He also encouraged Kavanaugh to “start suing people for libel” or “the Justice Department should come to his rescue.”
