President Joe Biden test-drove Ford’s new F-150 Lightning electric truck after joking he wanted to take the updated model for a spin.
Biden detoured from his White House travel schedule in Dearborn, Michigan, on Tuesday to drop into the Ford Rouge Electric Vehicle Center’s test site, where he drove a truck with black and white detailing around the track.
“This sucker’s quick,” he told reporters sans mask — but wearing his trademark aviator sunglasses.

JOE BIDEN SPARKS ETHICS QUESTIONS BY HIRING RELATIVES OF SENIOR STAFFERS

As he promoted his $2.25 trillion infrastructure-plus spending package, Biden had remarked about shaking his Secret Service agents so he could get behind the wheel.
“I’d sure like to drive it. I wonder whether or not I can lose the Secret Service and go out to the track,” he said.
Biden, whose jack-of-all-trades father once managed a car dealership, has a long affinity with classic American vehicles. His 1967 Chevrolet Corvette is among his prized possessions.

Through his infrastructure package, Biden has proposed spending $174 billion on the electric vehicle market, including on the domestic supply chain and manufacturing, as well as point-of-sale rebates and tax incentives. Republicans are expected to counter with another offer this week after putting an initial $568 billion compromise on the table last month.
