In this week’s edition of the boss’s email newsletter — Kristol Clear — readers are asked to rank their top three picks for the GOP’s 2016 presidential nominee. And, there’s also special new Democratic field betting game, since Joe Biden is flirting with running.
The boss writes:
We’ll follow the lead of our friends at Special Report: If you had $100 to allocate in bets among the possible nominees, how would you do so?
The choices are:
Hilllary Clinton
Joe Biden
Bernie Sanders
Elizabeth Warren
The rest of the field.
Meanwhile, over on the Republican side, Donald Trump and a bunch of other people are running for the nomination. The Summer of Trump has been a pretty remarkable one, and we have two excellent articles in the new issue to help people understand it, by Chris Caldwell and Julius Krein, along with editorials by Mark Hemingway and me. I think the judgment of all our authors is that while Trump probably won’t and shouldn’t be president, Trumpism is an interesting phenomenon, one worth taking seriously.
So, the usual procedure: Who’s your first choice? Who are your first three choices? And two special bonus questions: Has the Trump candidacy been on the whole good or bad for the Republican cause? And, would you welcome the entry of one or more additional candidates to the race?
