Gov. Glenn Youngkin was confronted by a woman in a northern Virginia grocery store on Thursday asking about his decision not to wear a mask.
Youngkin turned his attention to the woman and said, “We’re all making choices today.” She responded by telling Youngkin they were in Alexandria and to “read the room,” according to a report.
“He’s my governor, too,” the woman told the cashier in front of her. “I get to say what I want.”
While promoting his plan to eliminate grocery taxes, a customer strongly expressed disapproval over a maskless Youngkin.
“Governor, where is your mask?”
“We’re all making choices today.”
“Yeah, look around you governor, you’re in Alexandria. Read the room buddy!”@wusa pic.twitter.com/zNkgFXppVs

SOME LIBERAL CITIES LOOK TO END VACCINE AND MASK MANDATES AS OPPOSITION GROWS
The Republican governor visited the store to promote his plan to eliminate grocery taxes in the state of Virginia. Youngkin had pledged to address the rising cost of living in Virginia during his inaugural address on Jan. 15.
During his visit, he shared his support for the lawsuit from students’ parents against the Loudoun County school board after it voted to uphold a mask mandate meant to stymie the spread of COVID-19. Jason Miyares, the state’s attorney general, joined the lawsuit with the parents on Wednesday. The school district has threatened to suspend students who attempt to attend classes unmasked.

“These school boards, history will not look fondly upon them for taking these decisions to tell children who want to be in school that they can’t be in school,” Youngkin told the press Thursday.
Youngkin signed an executive order allowing parents to opt their children out of school mask mandates, but it hit a road bump in Arlington County on Friday when Judge Louise DiMatteo issued a temporary restraining order.
