FAVORITE PLACE TO SEE LIVE MUSIC
Silver Spring Main Street or Tacoma Park

“Sometimes they do live concerts in the summertime, and I just love the outdoor aspect of it. You’re walking down the street and you don’t expect to walk into a concert but you do.”

BEST CHEAP FUN
The Music Center at Strathmore

“Strathmore does ‘Movies on the Green,’ and they put this huge movie screen up and you can bring a picnic dinner and it’s really fun. They did ‘The Wizard of Oz’ this past summer, and the yard was full of everyone from two-year-olds to 80-year-olds.”

WHERE: 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda

BEST RESTAURANT
Her kitchen

“I’m one heck of a cook. I do cook for myself a lot, and I just really like my own food. I guess you could say I’m picky.”

FAVORITE BREAKFAST SPOT
Eggspectation in Ellicott City or Silver Spring

“I’m a really big fan of eggs in every shape, form and scramble, and Eggspectation has every omelette and breakfast concoction you can imagine. Any way you can create an egg, they do.”

BALTIMORE’S HIDDEN GEM
Killer Trash in Fells Point

“I went in once and bought a vintage cocktail dress, and every time I wear it, it makes me feel like someone out of a Hitchcock movie. I just love the idea that whoever owns that shop takes the time to search through thrift stores and God knows where else to find things that have stories behind them.”

WHERE: 1929 Eastern Ave., Baltimore

INFO: 410-675-2449

FAVORITE NONPROFIT/CHARITY
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption

“This is a national group, but the foundation raises funds for adoption awareness. They are really making an effort to educate people about adoption.”

FAVORITE PLACE TO TAKE VISITORS
The National Aquarium in Baltimore/International Spy Museum in D.C.

“The aquarium is always a big hit, especially the shark walk, that’s always a big hit with kids. Then we can always shop in the Inner Harbor. The Spy Museum in D.C. is also always a big hit, so that’s a fun one with older visitors.”

WHERE: National Aquarium, 501 E. Pratt St.; Spy Museum, 800 F St. NW

FAVORITE LOCAL ATHLETE
The UMBC Basketball Team

“I’m pretty proud of the whole team. They have gotten so much better lately, and they have been working so hard, and bringing in new players. I always go to the games when I’m on campus.”

BALTIMOREAN I’D MOST WANT A MEETING WITH

Billie Holiday

“I would take her out to dinner, somewhere nice in Little Italy. She lived here in Baltimore in the 1930s, and I think it would be fascinating to talk to her about how Baltimore was at that time. She’s also a woman who really knows how to sing from her heart, and that’s something I’m hoping to do in my career.”
