Donald Trump on Monday said, “We are winning,” and hit the press for refusing to report this reality.
Trump’s defiant declaration directly contradicts his campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, who acknowledged on Sunday that the GOP nominee is behind in the polls.
“We are winning and the press is refusing to report it,” Trump tweeted on Monday. “Don’t let them fool you- get out and vote! #DrainTheSwamp on November 8th!”

Trump’s tweet draws a strong contrast with Conway, an experienced pollster, who told NBC on Sunday that Trump was not winning.
“We are behind,” Conway said on “Meet The Press.” “She [Clinton] has some advantages like 66 million dollars in ad buys just in the month of September, thereby doubling her ad buys from August.”
The tweet could make his relationship with Conway increasingly tense, as she appears to have vented frustration on Twitter in recent weeks. Conway has tweeted that she has been urging her candidate to stay on message and appeared to distance herself from some of Trump’s remarks during the most recent presidential debate.
Conway did tweet on Sunday night that an IBD/TIPP poll showing Trump ahead by two percentage points, 44-42, should get more attention from the media.
