Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro and other Twitter users questioned if NBA star and social justice activist LeBron James will weigh in on a Chinese court ruling in favor of the notion that homosexuality is a “psychological disorder.”
“Looking forward to Lebron weighing in,” Shapiro tweeted in response to a tweet reading, “BREAKING: Chinese court rules homosexuality can be called a mental disorder.”

A Chinese court recently ruled in favor of a university textbook description of homosexuality as “a psychological disorder.”
The NBA’s relationship with China was thrown into the public’s view last year after former Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey tweeted in support of the Hong Kong protests, with James criticizing the former GM’s comments.
CHRISTMAS DAY NBA RATINGS TAKE ANOTHER HIT AFTER YEAR OF POLITICAL MESSAGING AND CRITICISMS
“Both LeBron James and Adam Silver sat on their hands after then Rockets’ GM Daryl Morey took a stand for humans over dollars. Morey knew, just like Silver and King James, that standing up for the people of Hong Kong would fray the league’s relationship and make it nearly impossible to become international business partners. He didn’t care, because that’s what real leaders do,” sports outlet OutKick wrote in December.
James has been an outspoken social justice advocate, and commenters are wondering if he’ll speak up about China’s ruling that homosexuality is “a psychological disorder.”
