Fender bender turns deadly

A minor fender bender turned deadly after one driver attempted to exchange information with the other and instead was run over and dragged.

The man died six days later.

Baltimore City police are looking for two males that were in a Ford Explorer involved in a crash on the 5,800 block of Erdman Avenue on March 3. The crash occurred in the parking lot of Urban Auto Parts.

After the collision, Charles Erdman, 65, got out of his car and attempted to exchange information with the men inthe Explorer.

After a brief conversation, the driver of the Explorer got back into the SUV and drove over Erdman, who was caught beneath the car and was dragged for a short distance, city police spokesman Donny Moses said Friday.

“The driver of the Explorer then slowed down and looked at Mr. Erdman, who was caught under the vehicle,” Moses said. “The driver turned the steering wheel and accelerated.”

Erdman was freed from the SUV but was run over again by the Explorer, Moses said.

The Explorer?s driver and passenger then left the scene.

Erdman died March 9 after being listed in critical condition Johns Hopkins Bayview campus.

Police on Thursday ruled the case a homicide Thursday.

The suspects are described as black males in their late 30s to early 40s. The license plate on the Ford Explorer was stolen from a car in the city in February.
