Meghan McCain: McConnell might ‘get dirty’ and force Biden on impeachment witness stand

Meghan McCain, a host of ABC’s The View, said she believed Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell might go after Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, if articles of impeachment get sent to the Senate.

“At some point in time this will reach the Senate,” McCain said about the House Democrats impeachment inquiry. “I don’t think it’s beneath Mitch McConnell to get extremely dirty in an intense dog fight on this and to bring Joe Biden and his son on the stand to testify.” McCain asserted that the political implications of impeachment for Democrats are “intense.”

Trump allies have accused Joe Biden and Hunter Biden of corruption over their involvement with Ukraine. Hunter Biden was on the board of a Ukrainian gas company while his father was vice president, and Republicans contend that Joe Biden got a top Ukrainian prosecutor fired over an investigation he opened up on the company. Democrats argue that Biden was acting upon President Barack Obama’s orders with the support of America’s European allies to get Ukraine to fire a corrupt prosecutor.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced last week she was backing an impeachment inquiry into Trump over whether he offered Ukraine a quid pro quo to investigate Biden in exchange for military aid. McConnell said Tuesday that Republicans would have “no choice” but to take up articles of impeachment if they passed the House.
