Biden repeatedly bungles ‘ATF’ title while unveiling gun control measures

President Joe Biden repeatedly confused the title of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives while unveiling a series of gun control measures on Thursday.

“Finally, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, the key agency enforcing gun laws, hasn’t had a permanent director since 2015,” Biden said in the Rose Garden. “Today, I’m proud to nominate David Chipman to serve as the director of the AFT. David knows the AFT well.”

The law enforcement organization’s correct abbreviation is ATF, not AFT.

The nomination came during Biden’s unveiling of gun control measures targeting loopholes on ghost guns, gun violence in urban communities, and access to stabilizing braces, among other measures.

BIDEN FUMBLES XAVIER BECERRA’S NAME AND TITLE WHEN INTRODUCING HIM TO LEAD HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES

Gun violence in this country is an epidemic,” Biden said. “And it’s an international embarrassment. … Enough, enough, enough.”

Biden has previously confused or bungled titles and names during appearances before the press, including when he introduced Secretary Xavier Becerra as his pick to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.
