EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (AP) — A livery cab driver accused of robbing a passenger on Long Island has been arrested after police say the rider spotted the suspect a week later in a train station.
The Nassau County Police Department says the 34-year-old driver was arrested Saturday night, five days after the alleged robbery. He’s awaiting arraignment.
Police say the woman took his cab early Monday after getting off a subway in Queens. Detectives say he pulled over in East Meadow, demanded her money, punched her in the face and tried to take her pocketbook.
Police say the 25-year-old woman fell from the car during the struggle and suffered minor injuries. The cabbie drove off.
They say she saw the driver Saturday at the Long Island Rail Road station in Jamaica, Queens, and summoned police.
