Crystal Pepsi is back for a limited time

Don’t call it a comeback. Crystal Pepsi is back.

The novelty clear soft drink failed in the 1990s, but Pepsi announced the soda would return for a limited time to honor its 30th anniversary, according to a report.

However, there is a catch.

Crystal Pepsi is not going to be available for purchase. Instead, it will be the reward in a contest if fans use the #ShowUsYour90s hashtag on Twitter, according to the report.

Contestants will post images of themselves in the 90s, and the best 300 pictures will be selected, Pepsi said.

The winners will each receive six 20-ounce bottles of Crystal Pepsi, the report noted.

The clear drink first hit stores in 1992 but was removed in 1994.

In 2007, David Novak, the former CEO of Yum! Brands, said Crystal Pepsi was the “best idea” he ever had and the “worst executed.”

“People were saying we should stop and address some issues along the way, and they were right,” he said. “It would have been nice if I’d made sure the product tasted good.”

Although Novak doubted that Crystal Pepsi could make a comeback, the clear soda has maintained an almost cult-like following.

For years, fans have campaigned to bring the soft drink back, and it almost achieved a revival in 2016.
