Virginia’s governor may not have been picked as Barack Obama’s running mate, but the top Democrat in the new swing state of the Old Dominion got the best speaking slot of any of his peers. Kaine was the last speaker before Al Gore on Thursday and the last elected official at the podium other than Sen. Dick Durbin, the senior senator from Obama’s home state. Kaine even got to warm up for Stevie Wonder.
