Police warn of Craigslist sellers who rob victims

Virginia police are investigating reports of people who pretend to be selling items on Craigslist, then rob the prospective buyers.

Fairfax County police said that in three cases, interested car buyers responded to an online ad, but when they went to meet the seller, two men approached them and demanded money. At least one of the men would be carrying a weapon, police said.

One robbery took place near Pohick Road and Wadebrook Terrace shortly before 10 p.m. on Sept. 10.

A second incident happened at about 5:35 p.m. on Sept. 25 on the 13300 block of Ivakota Farm Road.

A third incident happened on Tuesday, again near Pohick Road and Wadebrook Terrace.
