Trump: ‘I won,’ despite mic issues, if analysts are ignored

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump declared on Twitter Saturday it was obvious he won Monday’s debate against Hillary Clinton as long as no analysis of his performance was taken into account.

“I won the debate if you decide without watching the totally one-sided ‘spin’ that followed,” Trump tweeted. “This despite the really bad microphone.”

Monday’s first presidential debate was widely seen by media analysts, focus groups of undecided voters and scientific polls alike as a win for Clinton. In the days following the debate, the Trump campaign has pointed to unscientific online polls as evidence that he won the debate.

Trump has also focused on the audio quality coming out of the microphone he used during the debate. The Commission on Presidential Debates admitted Friday that there were some issues with Trump’s mic during the debate.

A reporter in the debate hall said Trump’s audio lowered at points in the debate hall, while Clinton’s was consistent. The audio for television broadcasts, which about 80 million people were watching, was not affected.

The real estate mogul continued to be angry about the mic issues Saturday afternoon.

“The so-called Commission on Presidential Debates admitted to us that the DJT audio & sound level was very bad. So why didn’t they fix it?” he tweeted.

Trump has been criticized for his performance in the debate, with major focus on his answers on the birther controversy, bringing up a past tiff with comedian Rosie O’Donnell and his record of supporting or being against the Iraq War. Many analysts said he had a strong first 30 minutes of the debate but trailed off in the last hour.
