Connecticut town cancels coronavirus test site after neighbors complain

A Connecticut town canceled and moved their drive-through coronavirus test site after neighbors complained that the original site sat too close to their homes.

Darien officials scrapped plans to begin testing residents and others near city hall on Thursday and are constructing a new drive-through test site at Darien High School. The original test site would have been one of the first sites erected across the state, according to the Darien Times.

“We thought town hall would have been a great place because of its proximity to our local health department,” Darien First Selectman Jayme Stevenson said of the original test site.

Stevenson said that officials held off building the site immediately after it was announced and eventually changed the site for testing after hearing several complaints from locals. The new site is an improvement, according to Stevenson.

“It’s a site that will allow for much better traffic flow and a larger volume of vehicle queuing,” she said.
