Trump congratulates Gingrich on combative interview with Megyn Kelly

Donald Trump praised former House Speaker Newt Gingrich for his “amazing interview” with Megyn Kelly Tuesday night, during which he grew increasingly combative with the Fox News anchor and accused her of being “fascinated with sex.”

“By the way, congratulations, Newt, on last night,” the Republican presidential nominee told Gingrich during a speech Wednesday at the ribbon-cutting ceremony of new his Washington, D.C., hotel. “That was an amazing interview.”

“We don’t play games, Newt, right?” Trump said, drawing applause and laughter from the invite-only crowd.

In an interview that lasted several minutes, Gingrich charged Kelly with lending too much coverage to the women who have accused Trump of sexual assault while ignoring new revelations about Hillary Clinton’s private email server and other scandals that have emerged in the thousands of illegally obtained emails released by WikiLeaks since the beginning of the month.

“I am sick and tired of people like you using language that’s inflammatory that’s not true,” Gingrich had said to Kelly after she referred to Trump as a possible sexual predator.

“You want to go back to the tapes of your show recently? You are fascinated with sex and you don’t care about public policy,” he added.

After the two tangled for several more minutes, during which Gingrich dared Kelly to describe Bill Clinton as a “sexual predator,” she advised him to “take [his] anger issues and spend some time working on them.”

“You too,” Gingrich responded.
