Former FBI Director James Comey disagrees with President Trump’s assertion he broke the law by leaking his memos.
“I don’t,” Comey said when asked by a student at William & Mary, his alma matter, if he believes there is any credence to Trump’s claims.
“In fact I think he’s just making stuff up,” he added.
Former FBI Director James Comey says President Trump is “making stuff up” when he claimed that Comey violated the law by releasing his memos. “I see no credible claim by any serious person that that violated the law,” Comey added. #ComeyTownHall https://t.co/sJglXPaWRg

Comey was speaking at a town hall event at William & Mary, airing on CNN.
Last week it was revealed the Justice Department’s inspector general opened an investigation into whether Comey leaked classified information when he leaked the contents of his memos, which recall his conversations with Trump before being fired in May 2017, to the media through a friend.
Trump has said he wants Comey, who is now in the middle of a book tour, jailed for allegedly leaking classified information. He also accused Comey of “totally” making up some of what he recounted in his memos.
