Whoopi Goldberg says she is sorry for a comment she made about the Holocaust during Monday’s episode of The View.
Goldberg, one of the co-hosts of the ABC talk show, issued an apology on Twitter for saying the Holocaust “is not about race.”
Goldberg wrote that she is “sorry for the hurt” she caused.

“As Jonathan Greenblatt from the Anti-Defamation League shared, ‘The Holocaust was about the Nazi’s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people — who deemed to be an inferior race.’ I stand corrected,” she wrote.

She stopped short, however, of fully retracting her comment, instead saying that it was about both race and “man’s inhumanity to man.”

During the conversation on The View, Goldberg’s co-hosts pushed back on her comment. Ana Navarro quipped that it was a “white supremacist going after Jews and Gypsies.”
Goldberg didn’t back down, commenting that those are “two white groups of people.”
