The unnamed 47-year-old mother and her 17-year-old son, both of Yuma, Ariz., tried to cross the border as pedestrians, but were stopped when a narcotics-detection canine alerted officers.

Searching officers found more than five pounds of meth taped to each person’s body, mainly around the legs, hips and stomach.

The drugs were seized and both suspects were handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations agency.
