Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine said that while Donald Trump brought the Republican Party to “midnight,” Hillary Clinton showed it’s “morning in America.”
“The Cleveland convention was dark and depressing, as she said, it was kind of midnight in America, and her speech was morning in America,” the Virginia senator said on CNN’s “New Day” Friday.
Kaine said the theme of Clinton’s acceptance speech Thursday night was that America can tackle any issue it faces.
“I thought it was fundamentally very upbeat, but not upbeat in generalities, I mean she’s got a set of very concrete plans,” Kaine remarked.
Kaine also revealed that he told Clinton: “It is a great country and you just made it a lot greater,” when he joined her on stage Thursday night.
Kaine spoke Wednesday night, showing his “dad-like” personality and going after GOP rival Trump.
The first presidential debate is roughly two months away.
